Donisi Presents "Make Improvement Processes and Tools Work for You"

Abstract:
The words ‘heroic effort’ are often used to characterize the daily routine of care-givers. Physicians and nurses are able to provide outstanding care despite internal hospital processes that frequently hinder their efforts. The need to improve the way things get done in healthcare is clear. Improvement science offers many ways to identify, analyze, and implement changes that can facilitate the process of treating patients. This discussion will focus on some of the tools and techniques that have been successfully employed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to improve clinical support services. Attend and learn ways to uncover opportunities to reduce waste while improving productivity and satisfaction among your work team. We will highlight specific project initiatives that have incorporated Lean thinking in combination with Rapid cycle test of change (PDSA) to develop and implement improvement strategies. These efforts have simplified and facilitated our ability to provide the best care possible to patients and their families.
